Shipping & Returns PolicyOur coffees are roasted & brewed fresh as required in small batches. We use 3rd party delivery services like Sendle and AusPost for all deliveries that are outside a 10km radius of our HQ. Therefore we try to plan our dispatch based on their service timelines/updates in our local area. KAAPI beans/grounds Orders are processed within 24-48 hours and couriered orders are dispatched daily. Orders fulfilled by us are generally delivered within 3-4 days (excl. weekends). KAAPI Decoction Decoction is brewed fresh to order and in order to reduce extended transit, regular shipping orders are generally dispatched Mon-Wed. Please note not all orders received after Wednesday 12pm may dispatch the same week. We will update you with the tracking number once it has been picked up by our courier. Within AU, particularly SA, TAS & QLD are areas to which we occasionally experience delays, so IF you are ordering from SA, TAS, QLD and have Decoction as an item, your shipping (mode & rates) is automatically updated to Express Post. We have product based shipping rate for WA and NT orders. Please note the shipping rates may be updated from time to time to accommodate for delivery provider price fluctuations. If you're in Melbourne, you can also opt to pick-up your online order from one of our friends. Options available at checkout! RETURNS We place a strong emphasis on the quality of coffee beans and chicory we use. Our blend is crafted in small batches to futher ensure optimal freshness. With this in mind, we cannot guarantee refunds or returns for change of mind. However, if you have any issues or are unhappy about any aspects of your order, please email us [at] enquiries@kaapi.com.au and someone from our team will get back to you within 48 hours, and we will try to make it right. Other DELIVERY / DISPATCH good-to-know!Some of the reasonable deets that were left out from our original Shipping Policy, but are still worth mentioning... You can expect occasional glitches because of bad weather or other unexpected delays from time to time. We request you to please be patient and contact us should you have concerns. All goods are insured and should in the unlikely event something go missing, we will endeavour to sort it out in a reasonable manner. Express Shipping We generally use AusPost for these orders. However since the beginining of the pandemic, AusPost don't guarantee *express shipping* to work like magic as there are occasional delays which the pandemic imposes on the day-to-day operations of all businesses including theirs. Why do you offer Express Shipping? Its like magic when it works. We charge you the extra because we pay that extra (and a bit more) and TRY to get that order to you asap, but sometimes there are uncontrollable delays. Delivery/Dispatch generally don't occur over the weekend. Most local Post Offices trade shorter hours on Saturday and are closed on Sunday. We also don't have couriers pickup orders over the weekend, however some customers have reported to have received their orders on a weekend; lucky them!

The KAAPI Satisfaction GuaranteeOur coffee is hand crafted with love! What this means is we are intimately involved in every aspect of sourcing, roasting, brewing, packing through to drop off to our couriers. We take every possible measure to make sure everything is top-notch. BUT occasionally we might drop the ball! The couriers might drop off to the wrong address, parcels may get delayed, go missing or arrive damaged in transit, we might even pack the wrong order! What's going on now, hey! In fact, customers who have been through such challenges have been with us longer :) While we can't guarantee such things might not happen on occasion, what we CAN GUARANTEE IS we will do the needful and address it in the most reasonable manner possible. Your goods are also insured. If you have issues of the above nature (or something new, oh oh!), please get in touch with us and we'll sort this out. We are reachable by email or phone (please txt first if not urgent)! cheers, your LOCAL KAAPIkaran ;) P.S.*KAAPIKARAN translates to coffeeguy

How is 'Indian' Filter Coffee different from a Filter Coffee?Indian Filter Coffee brew is traditionally full bodied, with low acidity. It derives its name from the filter pot that is traditionally used to brew this coffee. The resulting brew—known as decoction—is as strong as espresso, and suitable for milk-based coffees. In the Western world, the Indian filter coffee can be a misnomer as filter coffees in the west are lighter brews that tend to have ligther body and generally consumed as black coffee.

Can I brew without a traditional filter pot?Yes! At the moment we can grind (Chakram Blend) to suit manual brewing techniques such as mokapots (stovetops) and aeropresses. You can also purchase our Yodha Blend (Pure Coffee) as beans. When we set out to develop our blend, we did extensive research and testing to settle on a blend that would taste equally good when prepared the old-fashioned Indian style and with other popular coffee making equipment. You can check out our Brew Guide if you would like to learn the traditional brewing method and serving style.

I'm often brewing just for myself, what is your brewing recommendation?"As a style of batch brew method, we always recommend brewing coffee at the full capacity of the filter pot and storing any extra brew (in the fridge, once cooled down) if not consuming immediately. Brewing at less than the filter pot's optimal capacity isn't recommended as it may result in unused (under utilised) coffee. Our recipe suggestions are as follows, Stainless Steel Filter Pot 20-25g of finely ground coffee Artisan Brass Filter Pot 30g of finely ground coffee We recommend a coffee to water ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 for our blends. Please feel free to vary the ratio based on other coffees you may brew using the filter pot or based on your brewing preferences.

How many cups of coffee can I brew with your Indian filter pot?As a style of batch brew method, we always recommend brewing coffee at the full capacity of the filter pot and storing any extra brew (in the fridge, once cooled down) if not consuming immediately. Brewing at less than the filter pot's optimal capacity isn't recommended as it may result in unused (under utilised) coffee. Our recipe suggestions are as follows, Large Stainless Steel KAAPI Filter Pot, 50-100g ground coffee. Brew 5-10 cups. (ideally this filter needs 35g of coffee to be brewed at a minimum for optimal Decoction extraction) You can also brew lightly roasted coffees like a pour over with coarser grounds, with a coffee to water ratio of 1:10* KAAPI Brass Filter Pot, 30g ground coffee. Brew 2-3 cups. We recommend a coffee to water ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 for our blends to brew a traditional decoction (concentrate). Please feel free to vary the ratio based on other coffees you may brew using the filter pot or based on your brewing preferences.
