In the southern states of India, where Indian coffee originates, the word ‘kaapi’ transcends linguistic and cultural differences, and translates to coffee.

We are a Melbourne based Indian - Italian duo passionate about bringing the centuries old Indian coffee culture to the fore.


The idea to craft Melbourne’s first Indian Filter Coffee was the result of a caffeine fuelled discussion about how people drink coffee around the world. While several different styles of coffee have made it down under, we realised how little known the Indian Filter Coffee is.

From the coffee beans, brewing technique to the serving style, the Indian filter coffee just has so many unique elements largely unknown to even Melbourne's seasoned coffee drinkers. 

Our coffees are locally batch roasted at our Minerva micro-roastery in Kew, which was established in 2009. We also champion the traditional brewing method of using an Indian filter pot to craft our brews (decoction).

With Kaapi we aim to give locals the true taste of the much loved Indian filter coffee that has been around for centuries.
